Grade A335 P22 is a specification for seamless ferritic alloy-steel pipe designed for high-temperature service. These tubes are engineered for demanding applications involving high-pressure and high-temperature environments, particularly in power plants and petrochemical facilities.

Within petrochemical plants, A335 P22 pipes perform a core function, akin to "arteries," and are widely used in the construction of hydrocracking units, catalytic cracking units, ethylene cracking furnaces, and process piping for various fired heaters. The alloy combination of approximately 2.25% Chromium (Cr) and 1% Molybdenum (Mo) in P22 material provides exceptional capabilities: Molybdenum (Mo) significantly enhances the pipe's elevated temperature strength and resistance to creep rupture, ensuring structural integrity under long-term stress; while Chromium (Cr) imparts superior resistance to oxidation and sulfidation corrosion, effectively protecting against degradation from high-temperature flue gases and certain corrosive media in the process environment.
