The sensor continuously monitors main-gallery oil pressure and transmits real-time 0-5V analog signals to the engine control unit. If pressure drops below calibrated safety thresholds, the ECU immediately activates warning systems and can derate or shut down the engine to prevent catastrophic damage to crankshaft bearings, turbochargers, and high-pressure fuel pumps.
