Application:

The T406545 exhaust valve seat is produced for Perkins T4.236 and AT4.236 turbo-charged 4.0 L diesels, so it is fitted to agricultural tractors, combine harvesters, 60-120 kVA generator sets and compact wheel loaders that use these engines; the same insert is also specified for select Caterpillar C7.1 and 1204/1206 Series builds, giving one reference across construction, farming and power-generation fleets.

Technical specifications:

OD 43.1 mm, ID 33.0 mm, height 7.5 mm, 40° seat angle, 1.8 mm seating width; interference 0.06-0.08 mm for cast-iron heads, concentricity within 0.02 mm to prevent valve run-out under 220 bar peak pressure.

Material & performance features:

Vacuum-sintered Co-Cr-Mo cast iron, tempered to 45-50 HRC, with 30 % Cr, 1.2 % Mo, 0.8 % V for hot hardness of 38 HRC at 700 °C; lapped seat face Ra 0.6 µm beds in within 15 min and resists low-sulphur diesel, biodiesel and 20 % HVO, giving >12 000 h service before re-cut.
