Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) is a water-soluble vitamin with the chemical formula C₁ₐH₂O₄N₄O₆ and a relative molecular mass of 376.37. It appears as a yellow to orange-yellow crystalline powder. It is slightly soluble in water and readily soluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution. It readily decomposes in the presence of light. Its main food sources include milk, eggs, and green vegetables. It participates in biological oxidation processes as a coenzyme. Deficiency can lead to metabolic disorders such as angular cheilitis and cheilitis (due to reduced enzyme activity, which affects energy metabolism).
