Opening Methods:
- High-Grade Aluminum Alloy: Uses alloys that have a higher tensile strength than standard window aluminum, making the frame incredibly rigid and resistant to bending or deformation under pressure.
- Reinforced Frame Design: The frames and sashes are designed with deeper, thicker chambers. A larger frame profile provides more material to resist twisting and buckling.
- Multi-Point Locking Systems: This is crucial. Instead of a single latch, a robust mechanism engages locking points on all four sides of the window (top, bottom, and sides), clamping the sash securely into the frame. This creates a unified, strong structure that prevents the window from being forced open by wind pressure.
- Laminated Glass: The best option for typhoon protection. It consists of two panes of glass with a tough PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) interlayer. Even if the glass cracks from impact, the shards stick to the plastic layer, preventing the window from breaching and keeping water and wind out.
- Tempered Glass: Often used as the outer pane in an Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) for added strength. It is much stronger than annealed glass and, if it breaks, shatters into small, less hazardous pieces.
- Engineered Hardware: Heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant hinges and locks made from stainless steel are designed to withstand the violent forces of a typhoon without failing.
