M5 M6 Stainless Steel SUS304 SUS316 Serrated Hexagon Head Flange Metal Bolt DIN6921
Flange bolt is composed of hexagonal head and flange, with a "support area and stress area ratio" greater than ordinary bolts. This design enables higher preload capacity and superior anti-loosening performance, making it ideal for automotive engines and heavy machinery applications.
The flange bolt consists of:
- Hexagon head with integrated flange (gasket fixed to hexagon)
- Screw with external threads
Surface finishes: Plated white, army green, color yellow, corrosion resistant Dacromet
Flange types: Various sizes available for different applications
Used with nuts to fasten parts connecting two through holes, creating a detachable connection.
Hexagonal head types: Flat head or concave head
| Automotive | High-strength applications including engines and transmissions, valued for larger support area and anti-loosening properties |
| Mechanical | Connecting mechanical parts in electronics, construction, and industrial equipment |
| Energy | Brackets and fixtures for power generation equipment and transmission lines |
| Architectural | Building structures, shipbuilding, and petrochemical equipment for enhanced safety and stability |
| Aluminum | Excellent thermal/electrical conductivity but soft; requires careful processing to avoid buildup |
| Titanium | Requires EDM machining with deionized water to control heat during processing |
| Steel | Very strong; often processed with wire cutting machines for complex features |
| Brass | High tensile strength but requires slow cutting speeds due to softness |
- Thinner flange design allows slight deformation for more secure locking compared to ordinary bolts
- Can be used with special tools in confined spaces where ordinary bolts cannot be accessed
- Flange plate provides additional fastening surface area
- Safer for softer materials as flange distributes load and prevents perforation
High-carbon steels (C: >0.6%) are classified as tool steels, containing 0.60% to 1.70% carbon for hardening and tempering. Applications include hammers (0.75% carbon) and cutting tools (0.90-1.00% carbon).
