Shoulder screws, also referred to as shoulder bolts, are essential fasteners designed to ensure secure spacing, smooth motion, and rotational functionality.
- Machinery: Maintain precise alignment in sliding mechanisms, aiding in seamless operation of transmission systems while preventing interference with threads.
- Automotive: Widely utilized in suspension, engine, and braking systems, connecting bushings and bearings for effortless rotation and movement.
- Electronics: Maintain consistent spacing between components like circuit boards and chips to avoid electrical malfunctions.
- Mold Manufacturing: Integral in guiding parts within molds, improving accuracy and extending mold life by reducing wear.
- Furniture Hardware: Found in hinges and sliding rails to control movement of furniture components, ensuring longevity and consistent performance.
- Aerospace: Provide critical stability and precision in positioning and movement of various components.
- Industrial Automation: Play key roles in robotic systems and conveyor belts, facilitating smooth, precise motion and boosting operational efficiency.
- Medical Equipment: Ensure smooth, controlled movement in medical devices with adjustable parts, contributing to enhanced precision.
- Tooling & Fixtures: Maintain accurate alignment and consistent spacing in jigs and fixtures for precise manufacturing processes.
- Construction & Heavy Equipment: Provide reliable stability and movement control in structural components for efficient operation under demanding conditions.
Basic Knowledge: Stainless steel is an alloy material with corrosion resistance, composed primarily of iron, chromium, and nickel. These elements resist oxidation and corrosion, providing durability and aesthetic appeal.
- Cleaning: Use mild detergents and soft cloths. Avoid acidic/alkaline cleaners and abrasive tools that might scratch the surface. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth.
- Stain Removal: For stubborn stains, use specialized stainless steel cleaners following product instructions. Alcohol or vinegar can also be effective for certain stains.

201, 304, 316 are austenitic stainless steels, typically non-magnetic. Weak magnetism may occur due to composition segregation or improper heat treatment. Corrosion resistance comes from chromium oxide protective layers. At 450°C-900°C, chromium carbide formation at grain boundaries can reduce corrosion resistance ("intergranular corrosion"). Low-carbon variants (304L, 316L) minimize this effect, especially important in highly chlorinated environments.
304 is a general-purpose stainless steel widely used for equipment requiring good corrosion resistance and formability. It contains ≥18% chromium and ≥8% nickel, meeting ASTM standards. In fastener industries, 302HQ and 304 are often called A2, while 316/316L are called A4.
