These hexagonal components serve dual purposes of fastening and isolation, commonly manufactured from hexagonal copper rods, earning them names like copper column, hexagonal copper column, or copper isolation column.

Hexagonal standoffs are primarily used in computer assemblies and circuit board applications. When installed, one end secures into the locked object while the exposed hexagonal column provides fixation or isolation for other components.

Standard specifications include M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, and M10 sizes, with hexagonal column dimensions ranging from 5mm to 15mm. Materials vary from copper and stainless steel to fast-cutting steel options.

Applications & Material Properties

Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, offers exceptional wear resistance. Ordinary brass contains just copper and zinc, while special brass incorporates additional elements like lead, tin, or aluminum for enhanced properties.

Brass classifications include:

  • α brass: Zinc content below 35%, single-phase α solid solution
  • (α + β) brass: 36-46% zinc content, two-phase composition
  • β brass: Zinc content exceeding 46%, single β phase structure

Copper purity grades:

  • T1: Highest purity (99.95% Cu), excellent conductivity
  • T2: Copper-silver alloy (99.90% Cu+Ag)
  • T3: 99.70% Cu content, susceptible to hydrogen disease

Special brass alloys are coded with "H" followed by element symbols and mass fractions (e.g., HPb59-1 indicates 59% copper, 1% lead).
