Stainless Steel 304 316 L Wire Thread Insert M8 M12 M16 Metal inset bolt Customized
A wire thread insert (also known as a thread insert or helical insert) is a mechanical component used to repair or reinforce threaded connections. It is typically made from high-strength steel wire and has a helical structure that allows it to restore or enhance the functionality of damaged or worn threads, ensuring stable connections for bolts, screws, or other threaded fasteners.
- Thread Repair: When the original threads in a hole are damaged or stripped, a wire thread insert can restore the threads, enabling a secure fastener connection without needing to replace the entire component.
- Thread Strengthening: For softer materials like aluminum alloys or plastics, a wire thread insert can strengthen the threads, making the joint more durable and load-bearing.
- Preventing Thread Stripping: In high-load applications, the insert helps distribute the load more evenly, preventing thread stripping or loosening.
- Corrosion Resistance: Inserts made from materials like stainless steel or nickel-plated steel provide increased corrosion resistance in harsh environments.
Basic knowledge of stainless steel: Stainless steel is an alloy material with corrosion resistance, and its main components are an alloy of elements such as iron, chromium and nickel. These elements can effectively resist oxidation and corrosion, so that stainless steel has a high degree of durability and aesthetics.
- Cleaning: Keeping stainless steel products clean is important. Use mild detergents and soft cloth for cleaning, avoid acidic and alkaline components to prevent surface damage. When removing dirt, avoid using abrasive cleaning tools. After cleaning, rinse with water and dry with a clean soft cloth.
- Stain Remover: For stubborn dirt, use special stainless steel stain remover following product instructions. Alcohol or vinegar can also be effective cleaners for stainless steel.

201, 304, 316 are austenitic stainless steel, typically non-magnetic. Some weak magnetic properties may occur due to composition segregation or improper heat treatment. The corrosion resistance comes from chromium oxide protective layer on the metal surface.
When heated to 450-900°C, the structure changes forming chromium carbide along crystal edges, reducing corrosion resistance (intergranular corrosion). 304L and 316L have lower carbon content to reduce this effect, especially important in highly chlorinated environments.
304 Stainless Steel: A general-purpose stainless steel widely used for equipment and machine parts requiring good corrosion resistance and formability. Contains minimum 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
A2 vs A4 Stainless Steel: A2 is a class of 304 stainless steel, while A4 is a class of 316 stainless steel. The fastener industry often refers to 302HQ and 304 as A2, and 316/316L as A4.
