A rivet is a mechanical fastener or connector with the head and tail on opposite sides. It has a head, a smooth cylinder, and a tail that looks more like a metal needle. The rivet is installed in a drill hole that is approximately 1.5 mm larger than the diameter of the rivet itself to better hold the rivet in place.
Once installed, the tail will come out the other end and deform there. When you hit or smash the tail of the rivet, it flattens the material, which usually causes the tail to unfold or unfold. It expands to about one and a half times its original size, creating a dumbbell-shaped rivet that ensures permanent part assembly or connection.
