Pharmaceutical Grade Ethyl Cellulose N50 & N100 are premium hydrophobic matrix formers for sustained & controlled release matrix tablets, complying with USP/EP pharmacopoeia standards.
Insoluble in water, it forms a stable gel matrix in gastrointestinal fluid, realizing zero-order constant release via matrix erosion and pore diffusion. It maintains steady blood concentration for 12–24 hours, reduces administration frequency and side effects.
Excellent binding property improves tablet hardness and reduces friability; compatible with most APIs and hydrophilic excipients to flexibly adjust release profiles, ideal for long-acting oral solid dosage development.
Ethyl cellulose EC (CAS 9004-57-3) is a hydrophobic cellulose polymer powder, insoluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents. It exhibits excellent film-forming and bonding properties and is available in pharmaceutical, food, and electronics industrial grades, categorized by viscosity as N10, N22, N50, and N100. Its main functions include sustained-release and controlled-release, moisture protection, and powder bonding. It is widely used in long-acting pharmaceutical formulations, photovoltaic electronic pastes, coatings and inks, cosmetics and fragrances, and food protective coatings.
