Gabion Baskets are wire mesh boxes, containers or baskets filled with rock to prevent soil erosion and to retain/contain soil particles. Flat Gabions, called River Mattresses, are widely used in river courses where soil erosion is a problem over large flat or sloped areas needing protection against soil loss or scour. Hexagonal wire netting is manufactured from steel wire with hot-dipped zinc coating for corrosion resistance. The PVC-coated version adds an extra protective layer for enhanced weatherproofing.
