Quick Details of SS Knitted Mesh
The common wire diameters of knitted mesh used for insulating blankets are .008″, .0095″, and .011″. For applications requiring greater strength due to frequent removal (such as turbines or stress relieving blankets), .011" diameter is recommended. For less frequent removal, .008″ is sufficient. In high-temperature environments like furnaces, the .011″ diameter helps minimize weakening from oxidation or furnace atmosphere conditions.
The standard density is 60 openings per inch, providing an optimal balance between economy and performance. A 76 density option is also available. Knitted mesh is tubular (double-ply) in construction and typically cut open by the user for installation as single ply.
Available widths range from 1″ to 43″ (two-ply stocking), with 12″, 18″, 24″, 30″, and 42″ being the most commonly used sizes.
Description of SS Knitted Mesh
SS knitted mesh can be fabricated from various ductile metals, most commonly 304SS. For corrosive environments, Monel and 309SS are also available. Metal-synthetic composite versions can be produced when required.
