Typical symptoms include shift flare or slip (especially low-reverse and overdrive clutch burning), shift shock or delay, and transmission overheating. If disassembly reveals blue discoloration, warping or uneven wear on steel plates, contaminated ATF or low pressure has caused burning – the valve body is very sensitive to overheating and dirty fluid, triggering chain wear – replacement with friction discs and valve body inspection is recommended.
