This is the starting point of the problem. Inside the 0B5 transmission's valve body, there are numerous precision plungers and valve bores. Over extended use, these components wear down, leading to hydraulic oil leakage and unstable system oil pressure. Nearly all serious transmission issues are related to this area.
Clutch Slippage and Burnout
Insufficient oil pressure means that the clutch plates cannot be adequately clamped together. This causes the clutch to slip during engagement, generating excessive heat. Over time, the friction plates become burnt, darkened, worn, and eventually completely destroyed.
Worsening Wear / Vicious Cycle
The metal debris generated by clutch burnout contaminates the transmission fluid. This contaminated oil flows back into the valve body, accelerating further wear on the valve body components, creating a vicious cycle that worsens with each loop.
