Production Process Overview
Raw Material Preparation
- Main material: Pig iron, scrap steel, and recycled materials (unqualified products recovered in production)
- Auxiliary materials: Alloy elements (silicon, manganese, copper), spheroidizing agents (magnesium, rare earth), and inoculants (ferrosilicon)
- Inspection: Factory testing of raw materials to ensure proper element composition
Smelting Process
- Charging: Proportional loading of materials into smelting furnace (cupola/electric furnace)
- Temperature control: 1450-1550℃ melting temperature for uniform composition
- Composition adjustment: Continuous monitoring and adjustment of carbon, silicon and other elements
Spheroidization and Inoculation
- Spheroidization: Adding 1-2% spheroidizing agent to transform graphite structure
- Inoculation: Adding 0.3-0.8% inoculant to refine graphite balls
Casting and Molding
- Mold preparation: Sand molds with good air permeability
- Temperature control: 1350-1450℃ pouring temperature with moderate speed
- Riser chill: For solidification shrinkage compensation
Cooling Process
- Natural cooling in mold (hours to days depending on size)
- Controlled cooling speed to optimize material properties
Post-Processing
- Sand cleaning: Mechanical or manual removal of impurities
- Cutting/grinding: Surface finishing for smoothness
- Heat treatment: Annealing, normalizing, quenching for improved properties
- Anti-corrosion: Asphalt paint, galvanizing, or thermal spraying
Quality Inspection
- Appearance: Checking for cracks, pores, and dimensional accuracy
- Performance: Mechanical testing per EN124 standards
- Spheroidization rate: ≥80% graphite spheroidization required
Packaging and Storage
- Plastic film or carton packaging for protection
- Organized storage by specifications awaiting shipment
