Function Description
The KCD2-SCD-1.SP provides complete galvanic isolation between field circuits and control circuits. The device repeats the input signal from a control system (PLC, DCS) to drive SMART I/P converters, electrical valves, and positioners located on the field side.
How it works:
- The 4...20 mA control signal from the control system is transferred via a DC/DC converter and repeated at the output terminals to power the field device
- Bidirectional HART communication: Digital signals (HART) can be superimposed on the analog values at either the field side or control side and are transferred bi-directionally
- Integrated test sockets for HART communicator connection are built into the device terminals — no need for external connection boxes
- Lead breakage monitoring: An open field circuit presents high impedance to the control side, allowing alarm conditions to be monitored by the control system
