Product Description
Shaffer Ram BOP 26 3/4"-3000psi Casting Type
The Shaffer Ram Blowout Preventer (Ram BOP) is essential well control equipment for oil and gas drilling, workover, and well testing operations. It precisely controls wellbore pressure, prevents blowout accidents, and provides comprehensive safety for downhole operations while adapting to complex working conditions.
Core Features
- Solid Structure & Corrosion Resistance: Main pressure-containing components (body, bonnet, ram block) are manufactured from high-strength, high-toughness alloy steel through casting and forging, reinforced by heat treatment. Complies with API Spec 16A and NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156 standards. Features chemical anti-corrosion treatment, stainless steel overlay welding, and special stainless steel components for harsh downhole environments.
- Wide Range of Bore Sizes & Pressure Ratings: Available in bore sizes including 7 1/16", 9", 11", 13 5/8", 16 3/4", 21 1/4", and 26 3/4". Rated working pressure ranges from 2000psi (13.8MPa) to 15000psi (103.4MPa) for medium-high to high-pressure operation scenarios.
- Reliable Ram Performance: Utilizes HF-type forged rams (recommended) and S-type split rams. Available in pipe rams, blind rams, shear rams, and variable-bore rams for annular space sealing, full wellbore sealing, and emergency string shearing functions.
- Dual Protection Sealing System: Initial sealing through four key points: ram top seal with body, front seal with string/itself, body with bonnet, and ram shaft with bonnet. Well pressure-assisted sealing improves reliability. Secondary sealing mechanism allows emergency remediation via grease injection.
- Structure Designed for Easy Maintenance: Features high support ribs and sand-settling inclined surface to reduce ram movement friction. Internal buried hydraulic oil circuit prevents damage. Hinged bonnet connection facilitates easy disassembly and maintenance.
- Flexible & Safe Operation Modes: Supports hydraulic control and manual locking. Hydraulic operation completes ram opening/closing in 3~15 seconds. Manual locking maintains ram position during long-term well sealing without continuous hydraulic pressure.
Opening Methods & Bonnet Design
- Hydraulic Direct Opening: Inject high-pressure oil into ram opening cavity (recommended pressure: 8.4~10.5MPa) to push piston and drive ram assembly away from wellhead center.
- Hydraulic Opening After Manual Unlocking: First rotate handwheel counterclockwise to drive locking shaft to end, then turn back 1/8~1/4 turn before supplying pressure to opening cavity.
- Hinged Bonnet Opening: Bonnet connects to body through hinge base assembly. Loosen bonnet bolts and rotate bonnet through hinge for ram assembly maintenance.
Wellhead Installation & Inspection
Pre-Installation Inspection
- Check sealing gasket ring grooves and flange surfaces for defects
- Confirm ram specifications match downhole drilling tool size
- Verify BOP has passed pressure test and conduct ground inspection
Wellhead Installation Steps
- Apply thread grease and tighten flange bolts evenly in three stages
- Connect hydraulic control pipelines according to opening/closing marks
- Connect manual operating lever and ensure locking mechanism functions properly
Post-Installation Inspection
- Confirm correct BOP installation with body lifting lugs at top
- Test open/close each ram type twice with 2~3MPa control pressure
- Check manual locking mechanism flexibility and mark handwheel rotations
- Conduct comprehensive pressure test and re-tighten all connecting bolts
Usage Methods
- Specialized Operation: Assign dedicated personnel with comprehensive training in BOP operation and maintenance.
- Standardized Operating Pressure: Limit hydraulic control pressure to 3MPa when testing pipe rams without string. Do not close blind rams or shear rams when string is present.
- Use of Manual Locking: For long-term well sealing, close ram hydraulically first, then engage manual locking device and place warning tags.
- Regular Inspection & Maintenance: Test ram operation daily in target zones, conduct blind ram tests after tripping operations, and perform regular sealing, locking, and shearing function tests.
- Timely Fault Handling: Address issues like incomplete ram operation or sealing leakage by relieving pressure and identifying causes before remediation.
