Swiss CNC Turning Service Medical Micro Parts 316L Stainless Steel Cannula Electrode Pins 0.6mm To 6mm
Swiss CNC Turning For Medical Micro Parts
Cannula tubes, electrode pins, sensor probes and contact pins machined from 316L stainless steel and titanium, 0.6mm to 6mm diameter.
Where The Difficulty Is
A 0.8mm cannula with a 0.5mm through bore cannot be turned on a fixed headstock lathe without deflection and burr at the bore exit. The sliding headstock keeps the cut next to the guide bushing, so wall thickness stays uniform along the full length and the bore stays concentric to the outside diameter.
For medical parts the second problem is edge quality. Every part goes through a controlled deburring step and is checked under a tool microscope, because a 20 micron burr inside a lumen is enough to fail an incoming inspection.
Capability
| Diameter range | 0.6mm to 6mm |
| Minimum bore | 0.3mm, depth to diameter ratio 8:1 |
| Diameter tolerance | +/-0.005mm, +/-0.003mm on request |
| Wall thickness | From 0.1mm |
| Surface roughness | Ra 0.2 on sealing and sliding surfaces |
| Edge quality | Deburred and microscope verified, no burr above 20 micron |
| Cleanliness | Ultrasonic cleaning and DI water rinse before packing |
Typical Medical And Electronic Parts
- 316L stainless steel cannula tubes and needle stock with polished lumen
- Electrode pins, stimulation contacts and ablation probe tips
- Sensor housings, thermocouple wells and pressure port inserts
- Guide wire connectors, catheter hubs and luer fittings
- Pogo pins, spring contact barrels and RF connector centre pins
- Titanium bone screw blanks and dental implant preforms
Materials
316L and 304 stainless steel, 17-4PH, titanium Grade 2 and Grade 5 (Ti6Al4V ELI on request), MP35N, nitinol, beryllium copper, phosphor bronze and PEEK. Each heat number is recorded and linked to the delivery lot.
Finishing And Cleaning
Passivation per ASTM A967, electropolishing for lumen and surface improvement, gold and nickel plating, PVD, laser marking with UDI compatible data matrix, plus ultrasonic degreasing and DI water rinse. Process sequence is documented per lot.
Inspection And Documentation
- First article inspection report with ballooned drawing and full dimensional layout
- Tool microscope and optical comparator for bore, radius and burr check
- CMM and vision system for position and concentricity on sampled parts
- Material certificate, passivation record and plating thickness report
- Lot number printed on every bag for traceability back to bar stock
Ordering Process
- Send the drawing with tolerances, material grade and surface requirement
- State the annual quantity and whether a sample lot is needed first
- Receive DFM feedback and quotation within one working day
- Approve first article, then run production with in-process sampling
- Final inspection, ultrasonic cleaning, packing and shipping
Packing
Parts are packed in clean room compatible anti-static bags or trays, with desiccant and lot label, then into double wall cartons. Boxes are sealed and weight verified before dispatch, and courier tracking is shared the same day.
Include the bore size, wall thickness and edge requirement so we can confirm the process route and lead time.
