Capabilities and applications
The blast room (sand blasting booth) applies compressed air blasting for surface treatment of large workpieces in different shapes and sizes. As non-standard machinery, every blast room is custom fabricated to match the maximum workpiece dimensions from clients, with flexible sizing choices.
The complete blast room system comprises the main chamber body, pressure blast tank, blasting nozzles, abrasive reclaiming system, internal lighting fixtures and wall protection liners.
For workpiece handling within the booth, forklifts and rail trolleys are the primary transport methods. Monorail hoists and overhead cranes can be supplied as optional lifting equipment.
Various door selections are available, such as manual swing doors, pneumatic swing doors, electric roller doors and sliding doors. Double end door configurations can also be constructed as per client requirements.
Abrasive reclaiming systems are divided into manual and automatic types. The manual version uses corner hoppers; operators sweep abrasives into the hoppers for recycling. Automatic reclaiming equipment is installed under the floor, including screw conveyors, belt conveyors and floor scrapers. Floor scraper systems are the most reliable and widely adopted design. Normally it only needs a 500mm deep foundation pit. Another option is to elevate the entire booth with support frames so that digging foundation pits is unnecessary.
A single pressure blasting tank can accommodate 1 to 6 blasting guns. Operators working inside the blast room shall wear special protective garments and safety helmets.
