Floating pneumatic rubber fenders, also known as Yokohama fenders or Yokohama-type pneumatic fenders, are manufactured from synthetic-cord-reinforced rubber sheets with compressed air inside. The internal air enables flotation on water and functions as a shock absorber between ships (ship-to-ship) or between ships and berthing structures during docking operations.

Our Zhonghaihang Marine Yokohama-type floating pneumatic rubber fenders are fully manufactured and tested in compliance with ISO 17357 standards. These floating pneumatic rubber fenders feature lightweight construction for easy handling and installation using guy-ropes or guy-chains.

Key performance characteristics include resistance to shearing forces, maintaining energy absorption levels under inclined compression up to 15 degrees, and providing low, comparatively even hull pressure. Constructed with multiple synthetic-cord layers and tough abrasion-resistant rubber, they deliver consistent performance even under rough conditions and cyclic loads, minimizing maintenance costs and damage risks.

Premium materials ensure self-buoyancy and exceptionally long service life. Pneumatic fenders are available in diameters ranging from 500 mm to 4,500 mm and lengths from 500 mm to 9,000 mm. All sizes are offered as sling-type or with heavy-duty chain & tire net configurations. We also supply vertical hydro pneumatic fenders for submarine applications.

Ships typically make initial contact with docks or other vessels during STS (Ship-to-Ship) operations at oblique angles. Unlike solid rubber fenders or foam fenders, which experience significant decreases in rated reaction force and energy absorption during inclined compression compared to parallel compression, our pneumatic fenders maintain superior performance.

With solid rubber or foam fenders, larger sizes are often required to compensate for reduced energy absorption during inclined compression. Our pneumatic design eliminates this limitation.
