A ZIF (Zero Insertion Force Socket) allows for easy insertion and removal of chips from existing circuits, commonly used for chip programmers or testing without damaging chips. The lever mechanism facilitates chip placement: lift the lever to insert chips, and lower it to secure them. This socket is designed for DIP chips with up to 40 pins and a width of up to 0.6 inches, accommodating most chip sizes. It can be snapped into existing circuit boards or sockets designed for 40-pin, 0.6-inch chips, potentially eliminating the need for board redesign. The gold-plated contacts ensure durability.
