142-5868 Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal For CAT 3412 Diesel Engine
- Product Name: Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal
- Part Number: 142-5868 (1425868)
- Compatible Engine: CAT 3412 V12 Diesel Engine
- Installation Note: Marked with INSTALL DRY (Sealing lip must be installed without lubrication) and shaft rotation direction indicator
- Construction: Rigid stamped steel outer shell + FKM fluorine rubber sealing lip with built-in garter spring
- Integrated metal outer frame ensures tight press-fit into flywheel housing, no deformation under crankshaft high-speed rotation
- FKM fluororubber withstands high temperature, engine oil and diesel corrosion, excellent wear and aging resistance
- Directional rotation marking prevents reverse installation to extend service lifespan
- Dry-install design avoids lip distortion, swelling and premature oil leakage caused by pre-greasing
142-5868 is the OEM rear crankshaft oil seal exclusively for CAT 3412 large-bore V12 diesel engine. It is mounted inside the engine flywheel housing at the crankshaft tail end, responsible for blocking engine lubricating oil from leaking into the flywheel and clutch housing.
Widely used on CAT 3412 marine propulsion engines, large stationary generator sets and heavy industrial power units. A failed rear crank seal will cause heavy oil dripping into the bell housing, contaminate clutch friction plates, reduce engine oil volume and trigger insufficient lubrication risks. It is a mandatory replacement component during engine major overhaul, flywheel removal and transmission disassembly.
We supply parts for Kubota, Cum mins, CAT, Perkins, Yanmar, Isuzu, Komatsu, Mitsubishi, Hino, Nissan, Vo lvo, Deutz, Doosan, Daewoo, John Dee re, Scania, Hyundai, JCB etc.
-
What is the difference between 142-5867 front seal and 142-5868 rear seal?
142-5867 is for crankshaft front timing cover side; 142-5868 is larger size for crankshaft rear flywheel housing side, they cannot be interchanged.
-
What does INSTALL DRY mean?
Do not apply oil or grease on the rubber sealing lip during pressing installation, dry mounting is required.
-
What damage will a leaking rear crank seal lead to?
Oil pooling inside flywheel housing, clutch slipping, accelerated clutch disc wear, continuous engine oil consumption.
-
Can this seal fit other CAT engine models?
Mainly designed for CAT 3412 engine, only applicable to models with the exact part number 142-5868.
