1.Product Introduction


The sludge rotary drum dryer, also known as a rotary dryer, drum dryer, or rotary cylindrical dryer, is a continuous industrial drying unit based on a 
rotating shell structure. It is widely utilized for the dehydration and drying treatment of high-moisture sludge across various sectors, including municipal sludge management, chemical production, textile printing and dyeing, and electroplating industries.



2.Application


Specifically designed for high-humidity and high-viscosity materials with moisture content as high as 90%, such as municipal sludge, chemical sludge, electroplating sludge, printing and dyeing sludge, and oilfield sludge. It can reduce moisture content to below 12% in a single drying pass.



3.Working Principle


Wet sludge is fed into the rotating drum, which is set at a specific inclination. Inside the drum, internal lifting flights (also known as lifting plates) are installed. As the drum rotates slowly, these flights continuously lift and shower the sludge, ensuring thorough contact with the hot air (or flue gas) during its movement. This process facilitates highly efficient heat and mass transfer, leading to the evaporation of moisture.



4.Advantages

  • Structural Design : The drum is typically equipped with a depolymerization mechanism, movable grating-type wing plates, cleaning devices, and crushing units. These components are specifically designed to handle the high viscosity and clustering characteristics of sludge, effectively preventing material adhesion (wall-sticking) and clogging.
  • Heat Exchange Methods :
    - Direct Heat Transfer: Hot air comes into direct contact with the sludge, offering high thermal efficiency. This is suitable for materials where slight contact with flue gas is permissible.
    - Indirect Heat Transfer: Heat is conducted to the sludge through a metal wall, avoiding direct contact between the material and the heating medium. This is ideal for scenarios requiring high product purity.
  • Airflow Configuration :
    - Co-current Flow: Both hot air and sludge enter from the same end. The outlet temperature is lower, making it suitable for applications where extreme final moisture content is not required.
    - Counter-current Flow: Hot air and sludge move in opposite directions. This configuration offers higher thermal energy utilization and can achieve a lower final moisture content.
