The TABER Abrasion Tester (also known as the Taber Abrasion Tester) is a classic rotating-platform accelerated abrasion testing instrument. By simulating multi-directional friction conditions, it rapidly evaluates the abrasion resistance and durability of material surfaces, and is widely used in research and development as well as quality inspection across industries such as plastics, coatings, leather, paper, and flooring.

Exclusive wear process
Place the material to be tested on the turntable, and two grinding wheels press against the material with a certain weight to cause wear.
When the sample is subjected to wear, the surface material of the sample undergoes omnidirectional particle abrasion to form a complete circular ring.
The grinding wheels rotate along with the rotation of the sample plate, generating relative motion and wear; meanwhile, the offset of the grinding wheel shaft relative to the turntable shaft during rotation produces sliding motion, thereby wearing the material.

Test Purpose:

Simulate actual usage conditions or meet the test conditions specified in standards.
A variety of different abrasion media and accessories can be selected for various tests.
Repeated tests can be conducted on the same point of one material, and materials up to approximately 0.5 inches thick can be damaged or abraded away.
Two rotational speeds (60 rpm, 72 rpm) and three types of load can be set.
A vacuum cleaner is used to remove abrasive debris.
The suction arm of the vacuum pump is connected to the adjustable device on the back of the instrument via a hinge, allowing precise height adjustment to accommodate different sample thicknesses.
This ensures the stability and accuracy of the test.
