Galvanized Steel Core ACSR Cable BS EN50182 Standard For Overhead Transmission
ACSR Overhead Cable Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced conductor designed for reliable overhead power transmission applications.
Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) Cables are engineered for optimal performance in electrical power transmission applications.
- Application: ACSR conductors are widely used for electrical power transmission over long distances, making them ideal for long overhead line spans. They also serve as messengers for supporting overhead electrical cables.
- Standards: Designed to BS 215-2 / BS EN 50182 / IEC 61089 / ASTM B 232 / B 232M / DIN 48204 / JIS C 3110 / AS 3607 standards.
ACSR conductors are formed by several wires of aluminum and galvanized steel, stranded in concentric layers. The core wires are made of galvanized steel, while the external layers are aluminum. Galvanized steel cores typically consist of 1, 7, or 19 wires. The diameters of steel and aluminum wires can be identical or different.
By varying the relative proportions of aluminum and steel, specific characteristics for particular applications can be achieved. Higher ultimate tensile strength is obtained by increasing steel content, while higher current carrying capacity is achieved by increasing aluminum content.
ACSR has long been widely used as overhead high tension transmission lines and has an established reputation for economy and dependability.
A coating of non-oxidizing grease is normally applied to the steel cores of all conductors, in addition to the protection offered by the galvanizing of the steel wires. One or more layers of the aluminum wires can be supplied partially or fully greased if required. Complete freedom from contamination by other metals is ensured during the entire manufacturing process.
