Both the main vine and the lateral branches are capable of bearing fruit. The main vine is thick and vigorous, benefiting from a relatively ample supply of nutrients, which allows it to produce female flowers and set fruit earlier during the early growth stages.

Lateral branches, on the other hand, emerge in large numbers from the leaf axils once the main vine has reached a certain stage of development, and they also exhibit strong fruiting potential.

In practical production, taking crawling cultivation as an example, the growing tip of the main vine is typically removed after 6–8 leaves have developed, encouraging the lateral branches to grow.
