High-Speed Electric Tiltrotor Aircraft with 450km/hour Max Speed 500 kg Payload and Modular Payload Bay
The YF-2 is a large, multi-role electric tiltrotor aircraft developed by Weland Space Aircraft Co., Ltd. Following a technology roadmap that progresses from unmanned to manned, and from cargo to passenger transport, the baseline YF-2 is an unmanned multi-purpose variant, with a manned transport version to be derived subsequently.
The aircraft features an innovative distributed, fully-tilting-rotor configuration that has overcome key challenges in overall design, tilt-transition flight control, and high-efficiency propulsion systems. This advanced design delivers exceptional performance characteristics including high payload capacity, high cruise speed, and high operational altitude.
The unmanned baseline variant provides a 5.6 m³ modular payload bay that accepts air-cargo pallets as well as specialized mission modules. This flexible design enables rapid reconfiguration for diverse mission profiles including:
- Cargo transport operations
- Aerial survey and mapping with specialized cameras
- Reconnaissance missions with EO/radar sensors
- Defense applications with integrated weapon systems
- Vertical Take-off & Landing (VTOL): Powered by 12 distributed electric rotors, it lifts and lands vertically— no runway required.
- All-electric propulsion: High-safety, long-cycle-life batteries cut energy and maintenance costs while eliminating fuel-related upkeep.
- Heavy-lift capacity: Carries up to 500 kg of mission payload inside a spacious cabin sized for bulky cargo or large sensors.
- High speed: Cruises at 450 km/h, reaching the target area in minimal time
