Product Introduction

The ET2000 Guardrail Terminal is a proven energy-absorbing end treatment designed for roadside safety barriers. During a head-on impact, the W-Beam rail extrudes through the extruder head, providing a controlled "ride-down" that reduces vehicle deceleration forces and protects occupants from spearing injuries. Available in TL2 and TL3 configurations, this terminal is widely adopted across Australia and New Zealand as a legacy system accepted by the Austroads Safety Barrier Assessment Panel (ASBAP) .

Select TL3 for high-speed highways with posted speeds ≥100 km/h and heavy traffic volumes. Select TL2 for lower-speed arterial roads or areas with limited right-of-way. The Length of Need must be calculated based on the hazard offset and design speed; typically, the LON begins at Post #3 for TL3 applications .

  1. What is a gating guardrail terminal?
    A gating terminal allows the impacting vehicle to pass through or travel behind the terminal when impacted near the nose, reducing severe deceleration. The ET2000 is a gating terminal; a clear runout area is required behind the system .

  2. What is the difference between TL2 and TL3?
    TL3 is the highest test level under NCHRP 350, designed for 100 km/h impact speeds with a 2000 kg vehicle. TL2 is for lower speeds (70 km/h) .

  3. Can the ET2000 be installed on a curved roadway?
    The guardrail beams used for the terminal assembly must be straight and cannot be factory curved. Extend the installation to a location that facilitates parallel alignment .
