Product Description
  1. Product Overview

Nomay Blue PET High Temperature Tape is a single-sided industrial masking tape made with colored heat-resistant polyester film and high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. Also searched as Blue Polyester Masking Tape, Blue Powder Coating Tape and Blue PET Silicone Tape, it provides strong visual contrast for manual inspection and camera-based identification during high-temperature manufacturing processes.

The blue color supports process recognition and production-line management but does not, by itself, determine the tape’s temperature resistance, adhesive performance or certification status. The required construction must be selected according to the substrate, processing temperature, exposure time and removal conditions.

  1. Product Construction

The standard construction consists of:

• A 0.025–0.075 mm heat-resistant PET polyester film backing
• A colored and primed bonding surface
• A high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive layer
• An optional PET release liner for precision converting and die cutting

Common total thicknesses include 0.05, 0.06, 0.08 and 0.10 mm. Thick-adhesive or reinforced-backing constructions may be available from 0.12 to 0.18 mm, subject to product-grade confirmation.

  1. Backing & Adhesive System

The PET film provides tensile strength, dimensional stability, surface flatness and dependable converting performance. Its thin, smooth construction allows the tape to follow many flat, curved and regularly shaped industrial components.

The silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive is designed to wet out on metal, glass and selected coated surfaces. Properly matched grades can support secure masking during heat exposure and facilitate full-piece removal after processing. Adhesion and removability must be evaluated on the actual substrate, coating system and production cycle.

  1. Key Features & Buyer Benefits

• Blue translucent appearance supports camera detection and manual identification
• Heat-resistant PET backing maintains dimensional stability during processing
• Silicone adhesive is suitable for selected elevated-temperature applications
• Thin and conformable construction assists with clean masking lines
• Chemical resistance supports many coating and industrial processing environments
• Smooth film surface is suitable for slitting, laminating and precision die cutting
• Optional release-liner versions support automated placement and converted parts
• Selected high-performance constructions can support extended heat-exposure cycles
• Multiple thicknesses, widths, lengths and product forms simplify specification matching

  1. Applications

Typical applications include:

• Powder coating masking for wheels, brake calipers, shock absorbers and metal components
• Temporary fixation of release materials and auxiliary films during composite curing
• PCB wave-solder masking and high-temperature label protection
• Coil insulation and temporary electronic-component protection
• Masking of photovoltaic frames and battery enclosures during coating or curing
• Coating protection for wind-power and industrial metal components
• Precision die-cut masking parts for repeatable production-line positioning

Composite autoclave and clean-process applications require separate confirmation of cleanliness, outgassing, residue and material compatibility.

  1. Industries

Blue PET High Temperature Tape is commonly considered for:

• Aerospace and composite manufacturing
• Automotive and transportation equipment
• Powder coating and metal finishing
• Electronics and electrical assembly
• Renewable energy and battery manufacturing
• Photovoltaic and wind-power component production
• Industrial converting and precision die cutting
• General high-temperature process masking

  1. Application Scenarios / Problems Solved

The tape helps manufacturers create visible masking boundaries, distinguish temporary process materials and improve identification during complex production steps. Its blue color can make the tape easier to locate against many metal, composite and coated surfaces.

It can also help reduce unclear masking positions, irregular paint edges and difficulties locating temporary tape before final assembly. For automated inspection, the buyer should test the exact blue shade, transparency, lighting conditions, camera settings and background contrast.

All specifications are product-grade dependent and must be confirmed in the final Nomay quotation or technical data sheet.

  1. Performance & Operating Conditions

The general service-selection range is approximately −50°C to 150°C. Selected high-performance constructions may be specified for 200°C for 24 hours or 220°C for 7 hours. Standard materials are commonly selected around 204°C or 220°C for approximately 30 minutes.

The stated temperature capability must always be considered together with exposure duration. Buyers requiring several hours at 220°C must request a specific temperature-versus-time rating supported by the corresponding product data sheet. Actual performance can be affected by the substrate, coating chemistry, pressure, humidity, heating method, cooling conditions and removal timing.

  1. Comparison & Selection Guide

Choose blue PET tape when the production process requires high visual contrast, camera recognition or color-coded identification in addition to high-temperature masking. Light blue, deep blue and translucent blue versions should be compared against the actual component background and inspection system.

Do not select a temperature grade by color alone. Blue, green, red and yellow PET tapes may use different backing thicknesses, adhesive coat weights and silicone formulations. For prolonged high-temperature exposure, specify the required temperature, dwell time, substrate and removal condition before selecting the construction.

Use a release-liner version when the tape will be laminated, kiss-cut or converted into precision shapes. Use standard roll material for manual masking and slit-width applications.

  1. Technical Notes + FAQ

Q: Is every blue PET tape rated for 220°C for 7 hours?
A: No. This rating applies only to selected high-performance constructions with corresponding technical documentation. Standard grades may be intended for shorter heat cycles.

Q: Does the blue color guarantee higher temperature resistance?
A: No. Color is primarily used for identification. Temperature performance depends on the PET backing, adhesive formulation, coating weight and complete tape construction.

Q: Can the tape be removed without residue?
A: Properly selected grades are designed for reliable removal, but residue performance depends on the substrate, temperature, dwell time, surface contamination, cooling conditions and removal method. Production testing is required.

Q: Can custom widths and die-cut shapes be supplied?
A: Widths from 3 to 500 mm and liner-backed or precision die-cut formats may be evaluated. Final availability depends on the selected material construction and order requirements.

Q: Are RoHS, REACH, halogen-free, UL or flame-retardant documents available?
A: RoHS, REACH, halogen-free or third-party reports may be available for selected grades. UL, flame-retardant and food-contact status are not default properties and must be confirmed for the exact product code.
