Product Overview
Nomay Clear PET High Temperature Tape is a single-sided heat-resistant protection and masking tape constructed with transparent polyester film and high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. It is also searched as Transparent Polyester Silicone Tape, High Temperature Label Protection Tape and Clear PET Masking Tape.
Unlike colored process tapes, the transparent construction allows operators to view barcodes, batch numbers, nameplates, positioning marks and component surfaces beneath the tape. It is suitable for applications requiring temporary high-temperature protection without completely blocking the underlying information.
Transparent appearance does not automatically mean optical-grade clarity, cleanroom compatibility, low outgassing or silicone-free performance. These requirements must be evaluated separately.

Backing & Adhesive System
The transparent PET backing provides tensile strength, dimensional stability, surface flatness and dependable slitting or die-cutting performance. It permits inspection of many labels, alignment marks and component surfaces while the tape remains applied.
The high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive provides wet-out on metal, glass and selected coated surfaces. Correctly selected grades can maintain temporary adhesion during elevated-temperature processes and facilitate full-piece removal afterward.
The buyer should test adhesion, haze, distortion, readability and residue on the actual substrate. Silicone adhesive is unsuitable for processes that explicitly prohibit silicone contamination unless a separately verified material is selected.

Performance & Operating Conditions
The general continuous-use selection range is approximately −50°C to 150°C. Common transparent PET masking grades are generally considered for short-term exposure around 204°C. Selected constructions may reach 220°C for approximately 30 minutes.
Some high-performance grades may be specified for 200°C for up to 24 hours, but this is not a standard property of every clear PET tape. Extended temperature and duration claims require confirmation through the technical data sheet for the exact product code.
Actual performance depends on temperature, exposure time, substrate, surface condition, coating chemistry, heating method, cooling conditions and removal timing.

Comparison & Selection Guide
Choose clear PET tape when the underlying label, barcode, nameplate, positioning mark or component surface must remain visible during temporary protection or masking.
Choose colored PET tape when fast visual identification and detection of missing masking tape are more important than seeing the underlying surface. Choose clear liner-backed material when the tape will be laminated, kiss-cut or converted into precision protection parts.
Ordinary clear PET tape should not be selected solely by appearance for optical, cleanroom or semiconductor applications. Request haze, clarity, volatile-content, ionic-contamination and residue testing when these properties are critical.
For silicone-restricted processes, do not use a standard silicone-adhesive construction. Request a separately verified silicone-free alternative.

Q: Is this tape completely invisible after application?
A: No. The tape is transparent, but surface reflection, adhesive texture, film haze and layer thickness may remain visible.
Q: Can every barcode be scanned through the tape?
A: Not automatically. Scanning depends on the barcode contrast, scanner, lighting, film haze and adhesive uniformity. Test the actual label and scanning system.
Q: Is clear PET tape automatically optical grade?
A: No. Optical-grade applications require defined haze, clarity, surface quality and contamination data.
Q: Can the tape be used in semiconductor or cleanroom processes?
A: Only after confirming cleanliness, outgassing, ionic contamination and residue requirements for the selected grade.
Q: Is every clear PET tape suitable for 220°C?
