Product Description
  1. Product Overview

Nomay PTFE High-Temperature Tape with Black Release Liner is a liner-backed industrial non-stick tape designed for precision converting, clean handling and accurate placement. The black release liner covers and protects the silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive before application, helping prevent dust contamination, premature sticking and adhesive damage during storage, transportation, slitting and die cutting.

The word “black” in this product name primarily describes the release liner, not necessarily the color of the PTFE tape body. Depending on the selected backing, the tape body may be industrial brown, tan, milky white or another specified color.

  1. Product Construction

The product consists of three functional layers:

• Top working surface: Low-friction, non-stick PTFE surface
• Backing: PTFE-coated woven fiberglass cloth or pure PTFE film
• Adhesive layer: High-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive
• Protective layer: Black silicone-coated release paper or black PET release film

The release liner is removed before installation. Its stable support makes the tape easier to slit, laminate, kiss-cut and die-cut into precision shapes.

  1. Backing & Adhesive System

PTFE-coated fiberglass cloth provides higher tensile strength, tear resistance, dimensional stability and abrasion resistance. It is suitable for heat-sealing equipment, heated plates, machine guides and applications exposed to repeated mechanical wear.

Pure PTFE film provides a smoother surface, lower profile and greater conformability. It is suitable for FPC fixtures, curved surfaces, precision insulating pads, sliding components and applications where fiberglass texture or fiber exposure is undesirable.

The high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive provides reliable bonding across a broad temperature range and offers clean removal from many properly prepared industrial surfaces.

  1. Key Features & Buyer Benefits

• Black release liner protects the adhesive from dust, oil and accidental contact
• Improved dimensional stability during precision die cutting and converting
• Accurate positioning before final pressure is applied
• Non-stick PTFE surface reduces molten plastic, adhesive and ink buildup
• Low-friction surface improves material movement across guides and plates
• High-temperature silicone adhesive supports heated industrial processes
• Fiberglass and pure-film backing options meet different wear and flexibility needs
• Available as rolls, sheets, strips, pads and custom die-cut components
• Easier storage and handling than linerless self-wound tape for precision converting

  1. Applications

Recommended applications include heat-sealer jaws, sealing plates, impulse-sealing equipment, FPC hot-press fixtures, SMT production fixtures, guide rails, sliding plates, rollers, chutes, heated platens, mold-release surfaces, wear pads, electrical insulating pads and custom non-stick die-cut components.

  1. Industries

Suitable industries include flexible packaging, plastic bag production, electronics manufacturing, FPC and PCB processing, SMT assembly, lithium-battery production, industrial converting, die-cutting fabrication, printing, textiles, composite molding, electrical insulation, appliance manufacturing and general machinery maintenance.

  1. Application Scenarios / Problems Solved

For precision die cutting, the release liner supports stable feeding and helps prevent the silicone adhesive from contacting machine rollers or cutting tools prematurely.

For heat-sealing equipment, the PTFE working surface helps reduce melted-film buildup on sealing jaws and heated plates, supporting cleaner sealing surfaces and easier maintenance.

For FPC and SMT fixtures, the liner enables accurate placement of small insulating or non-stick parts while protecting the adhesive until installation.

For guide rails, chutes and sliding surfaces, the low-friction PTFE surface helps reduce sticking, drag, squeaks and surface wear.

For inventory and transportation, the black liner protects the adhesive surface and keeps converted parts separated until final assembly.

  1. Performance & Operating Conditions

Remove the release liner before the tape enters a heated operating zone. The liner protects the adhesive during storage and converting but is not intended to remain in the final high-temperature application.

Apply the tape to a clean, dry and oil-free surface. Use uniform pressure to maximize adhesive contact and avoid trapped air. For heated machinery, verify the actual surface temperature, contact pressure, cycle duration, substrate condition and mechanical load before volume use.

Continuous service at the maximum temperature can shorten adhesive life. Do not expose PTFE materials to temperatures above 316°C because hazardous decomposition fumes may be generated.

  1. Comparison & Selection Guide

Choose PTFE-coated fiberglass cloth when tensile strength, puncture resistance, dimensional stability and long-term abrasion resistance are priorities.

Choose pure PTFE film when a smoother surface, thinner construction, improved flexibility or freedom from exposed fiberglass texture is required.

Choose a black release-paper liner for general slitting, manual application and cost-effective die cutting. Choose a PET release-film liner when improved moisture resistance, smoother release or higher dimensional stability is required.

Choose this liner-backed version instead of linerless PTFE tape when the product will be converted into small parts, stored as sheets, automatically die-cut or positioned precisely before bonding.

  1. Technical Notes + FAQ

Q: Is the PTFE tape itself black?
A: Not necessarily. “Black” primarily refers to the protective release liner. The PTFE tape body may be brown, tan, milky white or another specified color.

Q: Must the black liner be removed before use?
A: Yes. Peel away the liner before bonding the tape to the application surface.

Q: Which backing is better for die cutting?
A: Both can be die-cut. Fiberglass cloth offers greater dimensional stability and tear resistance, while pure PTFE film offers a smoother and more flexible construction.

Q: Can the tape be supplied as finished parts?
A: Yes. It can be supplied as rolls, sheets, strips, washers, pads or custom die-cut shapes based on the buyer’s drawing.

Q: Is the release liner included in the stated tape thickness?
A: No. Tape thickness and liner thickness are specified separately to avoid purchasing errors.

Q: Can custom widths and roll lengths be produced?
A: Yes. Width, length, liner material, backing construction and converted shape can be selected according to the application and order quantity.
