Product Description
  1. Product Overview

Nomay Black Anti-Static PTFE Film Tape is a single-sided industrial adhesive tape manufactured from fiberglass-free black PTFE film and high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. The modified black PTFE surface provides static-dissipative performance, light blocking, low friction, non-stick release and high-temperature protection in electronics and industrial equipment.

Unlike standard brown PTFE fiberglass tape, this product uses a smooth pure PTFE film without woven fiberglass reinforcement. It is suitable for clean electronic production areas, precision fixtures and equipment where exposed fibers, surface texture, reflected light or static accumulation may cause processing problems.

  1. Product Construction

The standard construction contains two functional layers:

• Working and backing layer: Modified black pure PTFE film with static-dissipative and light-blocking properties
• Adhesive layer: Single-sided high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive

The standard version is supplied as a self-wound roll. A release-liner-backed version can also be selected for precision die cutting, sheet conversion and small-part positioning.

  1. Backing & Adhesive System

The fiberglass-free PTFE film provides a smooth and uniform working surface without woven-glass texture or fiber shedding. Its low surface energy helps release hot plastic, adhesive, ink and other sticky process materials.

The black formulation reduces visible-light transmission and reflected glare around optical or laser equipment. Its static-dissipative formulation helps control electrostatic charge when the tape is correctly installed as part of an appropriate ESD-control system.

The silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive provides reliable bonding at elevated temperatures and offers clean removal from many properly prepared metals, plastics and industrial fixture surfaces.

  1. Key Features & Buyer Benefits

• Fiberglass-free pure PTFE film avoids exposed glass-fiber texture and debris
• Surface resistance of 10⁶–10⁹ Ω supports static-dissipative applications
• Matte black appearance supports light blocking and reflection reduction
• Non-stick surface reduces buildup of molten plastic, adhesive, ink and process residue
• Low-friction surface improves movement across guides, plates and sliding components
• Continuous temperature resistance from -70°C to 260°C
• High-temperature silicone adhesive supports clean and stable industrial bonding
• Thin, flexible film conforms to curved surfaces and precision fixtures
• Available in self-wound, liner-backed, sheet and custom die-cut formats
• Custom width, length, thickness and converted shapes are available

  1. Applications

Recommended applications include SMT production fixtures, PCB processing equipment, electronic workstations, laser equipment, optical instruments, heat-sealer jaws, packaging rollers, sliding rails, guide plates, heated fixtures, mold-release surfaces, wire-harness insulation, precision masking, anti-reflection covers and custom ESD die-cut components.

  1. Industries

Suitable industries include electronics manufacturing, SMT assembly, PCB production, semiconductor processing, optical equipment, laser systems, lithium-battery production, flexible packaging, heat-sealing equipment, printing, industrial automation, precision die cutting, electrical insulation and machinery maintenance.

  1. Application Scenarios / Problems Solved

In SMT and PCB production, the static-dissipative surface helps reduce localized electrostatic charge around fixtures and equipment surfaces while providing high-temperature masking and non-stick protection.

In laser and optical equipment, the matte black surface helps reduce unwanted light transmission, glare and reflection from exposed equipment surfaces.

On heat-sealer jaws and packaging rollers, the non-stick PTFE surface reduces the buildup of melted film, adhesive and packaging residue, supporting cleaner sealing surfaces and shorter maintenance periods.

On guide rails, chutes and sliding plates, the low-friction surface helps reduce drag, squeaks, abrasion and material sticking.

In precision electronic assemblies, the fiberglass-free film avoids loose glass fibers and coarse woven texture that may be unsuitable for clean or sensitive production areas.

  1. Performance & Operating Conditions

Apply the tape to a clean, dry and oil-free surface. Use firm and uniform pressure to obtain full adhesive contact and avoid trapped air, wrinkles or lifted edges.

Surface resistance can be affected by test voltage, humidity, installation method, substrate, grounding arrangement and contamination. The tape supports static-dissipative surface protection but should not be treated as a substitute for a designed electrical grounding system.

The black surface supports light blocking and reflection reduction, but final optical performance should be evaluated using the buyer’s required wavelength, light source, equipment geometry and acceptance standard.

Continuous operation near the maximum temperature may reduce adhesive service life. Do not heat PTFE materials above 316°C because hazardous thermal-decomposition fumes may be generated.

  1. Comparison & Selection Guide

Choose black anti-static pure PTFE film tape when the application requires a smooth fiberglass-free surface, static dissipation, light blocking, low friction and thin conformability.

Choose standard brown PTFE fiberglass tape when mechanical strength, dimensional stability, puncture resistance and heavy abrasion resistance are more important than light blocking or fiber-free construction.

Choose the self-wound version for general roll wrapping, heat-sealer protection and maintenance applications. Choose the release-liner-backed version for automatic die cutting, small converted components, sheet storage and accurate positioning.

Select 0.05 mm or 0.08 mm for thin masking, curved surfaces and precision electronics. Select 0.13 mm or 0.18 mm when additional durability, wear resistance or service life is required.

  1. Technical Notes + FAQ

Q: Is this ordinary black adhesive tape?
A: No. It uses a modified black pure PTFE film with high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive, providing non-stick, low-friction and static-dissipative performance.

Q: Does the tape contain fiberglass?
A: No. The standard backing is fiberglass-free pure PTFE film.

Q: What is the surface-resistance range?
A: The standard anti-static range is 10⁶–10⁹ Ω under the specified test conditions.

Q: Can this tape replace an ESD grounding system?
A: No. It is a static-dissipative surface material and should be used as one part of a properly designed ESD-control system.

Q: Can it be used for laser-light shielding?
A: The matte black surface helps reduce visible-light transmission and reflection. The buyer should evaluate performance at the actual laser wavelength and power level before production use.

Q: Can the tape be supplied with release paper?
A: Yes. It can be supplied as a self-wound roll or with a release liner for precision die cutting and placement.

Q: Can custom die-cut shapes be produced?
A: Yes. Rolls, sheets, strips, pads, washers and custom die-cut parts can be produced according to the buyer’s dimensional drawing.

Q: Which thickness should be selected?
A: Use 0.05–0.08 mm for thin and flexible applications, and 0.13–0.18 mm for increased durability and wear resistance.
