  1. Product Overview

Nomay Double-Sided PTFE Fiberglass Tape is a carrier-based industrial mounting tape manufactured from PTFE-coated woven fiberglass cloth with pressure-sensitive silicone adhesive applied evenly to both sides. A release liner separates and protects the adhesive surfaces before installation.

The double-sided construction is designed to bond two components together in high-temperature industrial assemblies. It is suitable for securing conveyor accessories, gaskets, wear pads, insulation parts, guides and mechanical components where ordinary double-sided tapes may soften, shift or lose holding power under heat.

Unlike single-sided PTFE tape, this product is primarily a hidden bonding and mounting material. Both outer faces are adhesive during installation; it is not intended to leave an exposed non-stick PTFE working surface.

The standard product contains four functional layers:

• Protective layer: Silicone-coated release paper or release film
• Upper adhesive layer: High-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive
• Central carrier: PTFE-coated woven fiberglass cloth
• Lower adhesive layer: High-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive

The two adhesive layers are coated to provide balanced bonding performance. The PTFE-coated fiberglass carrier supplies dimensional stability, heat resistance, electrical insulation and mechanical reinforcement between the bonded components.

The woven fiberglass carrier provides tensile strength, puncture resistance and dimensional stability. PTFE coating protects the glass cloth, reduces moisture absorption and provides heat resistance within the internal tape structure.

Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied to both sides to bond metal, selected engineering plastics, composite parts, insulating materials and equipment components.

Both bonding surfaces must be tested because adhesion can vary according to surface energy, roughness, contamination, temperature, pressure and mechanical load. PTFE itself has low surface energy, but the outward-facing layers of this product are specially prepared and coated with adhesive.

  1. Performance & Operating Conditions

Both bonding surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oil, dust, release agents, rust and loose particles. Apply the tape at a moderate application temperature and use firm, uniform pressure to obtain complete adhesive contact.

Attach the first side to the more stable component, press thoroughly, remove the release liner and then position the second component. Avoid stretching the tape during installation.

The final assembly should be allowed sufficient dwell time before receiving full mechanical or thermal load. Elevated temperature can reduce the shear strength of pressure-sensitive adhesive, especially under continuous weight or peel stress.

This tape is suitable for mounting and fixing, but it should not be used as the sole structural fastener for heavy, safety-critical or suspended components without engineering validation.

Continuous operation near 260°C may shorten adhesive service life. The 300°C rating applies only to short-duration exposure and should not be treated as the recommended continuous operating temperature.

Do not expose PTFE materials to temperatures above 316°C because hazardous thermal-decomposition fumes may be generated.

Choose double-sided PTFE fiberglass tape when two components must be bonded together and the tape will remain hidden between the mating surfaces.

Choose single-sided PTFE fiberglass tape when the application requires an exposed non-stick, low-friction working surface on a heat sealer, guide rail, plate or roller.

Choose double-sided polyimide tape when a thinner profile is required for electronics, FPC or PCB fixture applications and an exposed PTFE carrier is not necessary.

Choose the 0.13 mm carrier for thinner assemblies and precision die-cut parts. Choose 0.18 mm for general industrial mounting. Choose 0.25 mm when greater rigidity, puncture resistance and dimensional stability are required.

Use narrower slit rolls for strips, seals and guides. Use liner-backed sheets or die-cut parts for gaskets, washers, pads and complex assembly shapes.

Q: Is this tape adhesive on both sides?
A: Yes. High-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied to both sides of the PTFE-coated fiberglass carrier.

Q: Does the final assembly have an exposed non-stick surface?
A: Normally no. Both sides are used for bonding, so the tape remains between two components. Select single-sided PTFE tape when an exposed non-stick surface is required.

Q: Does the tape include a release liner?
A: Yes. A silicone-coated release liner protects one adhesive surface and separates the tape layers during winding and converting.

Q: Can it replace screws or bolts?
A: It may replace mechanical fasteners in suitable lightweight and non-safety-critical assemblies, but heavy or structural applications require engineering validation.

Q: Can it be used continuously at 300°C?
A: No. The recommended continuous operating range is up to 260°C. The 300°C value applies only to short-duration exposure.

Q: Can it bond to low-surface-energy plastics?
A: Adhesion may be limited on polyethylene, polypropylene, PTFE, silicone rubber and other low-surface-energy materials. Application testing or surface treatment may be required.

Q: Can the adhesive strength be different on each side?
A: Standard construction uses balanced silicone adhesive on both sides. Differential-adhesive constructions may be evaluated for custom applications.

Q: Can custom die-cut shapes be supplied?
