Product Overview
Nomay Pure PTFE Film Tape is a single-sided industrial adhesive tape manufactured from integral PTFE film and heat-resistant silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. It provides a smooth, fiberglass-free, non-stick, low-friction and electrically insulating surface for heated machinery, rollers, molds and precision industrial components.
Two principal film constructions are available: skived PTFE film and extruded PTFE film. Skived film offers greater conformability around curves and irregular surfaces, while extruded film provides improved flatness and reduced curling in lay-flat and roller applications.
This product is an adhesive-backed industrial PTFE film tape. It is not non-adhesive PTFE plumbing thread-seal tape and does not contain a woven fiberglass-cloth reinforcement layer.

Product Construction
The standard product consists of two functional layers:
• Working and backing layer: Integral skived or extruded pure PTFE film
• Bonding layer: Single-sided heat-resistant silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive
The standard construction is supplied as a self-wound roll. A release-liner-backed version can be selected for precision die cutting, sheet conversion, small parts and controlled positioning.
Black anti-static, pure white food-grade and color-specific versions use different formulations and must be selected separately when those functions are required.

Backing & Adhesive System
Skived PTFE film is produced by cutting a continuous thin film from a molded PTFE billet. It offers good flexibility and conformability for curved surfaces, irregular parts and applications requiring elongation.
Extruded PTFE film is produced through a controlled extrusion process. It generally lies flatter, resists curling during unwinding and provides a more uniform surface for rollers, plates and lay-flat equipment applications.
The high-temperature silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive allows the tape to bond to properly prepared metals, engineering plastics, composite tools and equipment surfaces without heat activation.
The PTFE working surface resists many industrial chemicals, but complete chemical compatibility must consider both the PTFE film and the silicone adhesive.

Performance & Operating Conditions
Apply the tape to a clean, dry and oil-free substrate. Remove dust, rust, resin, release agents and loose particles before installation. Use firm and uniform pressure to obtain complete adhesive contact.
For roller wrapping, control the tape tension and maintain consistent overlap or butt-joint spacing. Excessive installation tension can cause film stretching, edge lifting or seam movement during temperature cycling.
Skived film is more conformable but may curl or stretch more during handling. Extruded film generally lies flatter but may be less conformable on tight curves and complex shapes.
Continuous exposure near the maximum temperature may shorten silicone-adhesive life. Actual performance depends on the substrate, load, pressure, temperature cycle, chemical exposure and application duration.
The PTFE surface resists many chemicals, but the silicone adhesive may respond differently. Test the complete tape construction when solvents, oils, acids, alkalis or aggressive cleaning agents are present.
Do not expose PTFE film to temperatures above 316°C because hazardous thermal-decomposition fumes may be generated.

Q: Is this tape made from pure PTFE film?
A: Yes. The backing is integral PTFE film without woven fiberglass reinforcement.
Q: What is the difference between skived and extruded PTFE film?
A: Skived film offers greater flexibility and conformability. Extruded film generally provides better flatness and reduced curling during unwinding.
Q: Is this the same as PTFE thread-seal tape?
A: No. This product contains pressure-sensitive adhesive and is designed for industrial surfaces. Plumbing thread-seal tape normally has no adhesive.
Q: Does the tape contain fiberglass?
A: No. The standard pure-film construction is fiberglass-free.
Q: Can it be used for electrical insulation?

Q: Can it be used continuously at 300°C?
A: No. The recommended continuous operating temperature is up to 260°C. The 300°C value applies only to short-duration exposure.
Q: Is the standard version food grade?
A: Not automatically. Buyers requiring food-contact documentation should select the separately specified food-grade white PTFE tape.
