The Oilseeds Flaking Machine is vital pretreatment equipment in an oil mill. It converts granular oil material into thin flakes by passing it between two counter-rotating rollers under high pressure. Flakes present a much larger surface area to the solvent or the press, so oil is released more smoothly and more completely. Consistent flake thickness is the single most important factor in achieving a high and repeatable oil extraction rate.

Our flaking mill uses two chilled cast-iron rollers supported on heavy duty bearings and loaded by a hydraulic system that keeps the flaking pressure constant. The result is a uniform flake thickness across the full roller width, minimal fines and a stable, low-vibration operation. The gap between the rollers is adjustable and the machine is protected against tramp metal and overload so that the expensive rollers are not damaged by a single process upset.

The flaking machine handles peanut, rapeseed, sunflower seed, castor bean, maize germ, tea seed, oil palm seed, rice bran, sesame, shea nut, tung nut, copra,  flaxseed, olive, walnut, perilla seed, corn germ, safflower seed and almond. Large seeds such as peanut and soybean are crushed first, while low-oil and hard materials such as rapeseed and cottonseed are softened before flaking.

Each flaking mill is delivered fully assembled in a seaworthy case with the rollers locked and all hydraulic lines drained and capped. We provide a commissioning checklist, hydraulic circuit diagrams and a spare parts list. Core components carry a twelve month warranty, and wear parts are available from stock for fast replacement.
