Guidelines for the selection of the gripperwith respect to workpiece mass
1.Although conditions differ according to theworkpiece shape and the coefficient of frictionbetween the attachments and the workpiece,select a model that can provide a grippingforce of 10 to 20 times the workpiece mass, ormore.
2. If high acceleration, deceleration or impact forces are encountered during motion, afurther margin of safety should be considered.o
3.If there is an overhang, please consult with SMC.
How to Mount the Attachment to the Finger
To mount the attachment to thefinger, make sure to use awrench to support the attachment so as not to applyundue strain on the finger.Refer to the tablebelow for the propertightening torque onthe bolt used forsecuring the attachment to thefinger.
Indication of effective gripping force
1.The effective gripping force shown in thegraphs below is expressed as F, which is thethrust of one finger, when both fingers andattachments are in full contact with theworkpiece as shown in the figur below.
A Caution
Use caution for the anti-corrosiveness of finger guide section.
Martensitic stainless steel is used for the finger. However, be aware that its anti-corrosion performance is inferior to austenitic stainlesssteel. ln particular, the finger might be rusted in an environment where water droplets are adhered to it due to dew condensation.
