Feature of Self-aligning ball bearing
The outer ring raceway of aligning ball bearing is processed into a spherical shape, so it has aligning performance. It is mainly used to bear radial load. When bearing radial load, it can also withstand a small amount of axial load. But generally it cannot be subjected to bear pure axial load, the ultimate speed is lower than deep groove ball bearings.
Because the contact area of ball and raceway is small, the load capacity of this kind of bearing is low and life is short. So its usage rang is gradually reduced, and there will be the trend it will be replaced by self-aligning roller bearings.
