Characteristic
Insulators are made of tempered glass. Due to the high mechanical strength of the surface layer of glass insulator, cracks are not easy to occur on the surface. The electrical strength of glass remains constant throughout its operation and the aging process is much slower than that of porcelain.
The use of glass insulators can eliminate the periodic precautionary test of the insulators during operation. This is because every damage to tempered glass causes damage to the insulator, which operators can easily find when patrolling the wire. When the insulator is damaged, glass fragments near the steel cap and iron foot get stuck, and the remaining part of the insulator is strong enough to prevent the string from breaking off. The slope ratio of glass insulator is one of the important indexes to measure the product quality, and it is also the quality basis of the current power transmission project bidding.
