Choosing the Right Bit Face Shape
Drop Center Bit: Ideal for achieving high penetration rates in soft to medium-hard, fissured rock formations under low to medium air pressures. Ensures maximum control over hole deviation.
Concave Face: A versatile bit face designed specifically for medium-hard, homogeneous rock formations. Provides excellent hole deviation control and superior flushing capability.
Convex Face: Perfect for high penetration rates in soft to medium-hard rocks with low to medium air pressures. Notable for its resistance to steel wash and reduced load and wear on gauge buttons; however, it offers lesser control over hole deviation.
Flat Face: This face shape is tailored for hard to very hard, abrasive rock formations, performing exceptionally well under high air pressures. Delivers robust penetration rates and resistance to steel wash.
