Product Description
PR54R RC Hammer with Remet/Metzke Thread for Reverse Circulation Drilling
RC hammers function similarly to conventional DTH hammers but feature an inner tube running through the hammer's center. This design collects cuttings through holes in the bit front and transports them via the inner tube, while flushing occurs between the bit splines and chuck. The inner tube serves as a wear component that can be easily replaced from the hammer's top.
Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling efficiently collects mineral and rock samples using large rotary drills and air compressors. As one of the world's most frequently used drilling methods, RC drilling offers superior cost-effectiveness and efficiency compared to alternative techniques. Positioned between RAB (Rotary Air Blast) and diamond drilling in terms of cost, time, sample quality, technique, and depth capabilities.
Advantages of Reverse Circulation Drilling
Compared to core drilling, RC drilling delivers faster penetration rates with multiple benefits:
- Direct drilling cost reductions ranging from 25% to 40%
- Faster completion of drill programs with accelerated result delivery
- Reduced man-hours at drill sites with decreased accident exposure
- Lower contractor activity reduces mine support burden
- Indirect cost reductions through simplified sampling processes
- Reduced water requirements compared to diamond drilling

RC samples are collected directly at the drill and sent to assay labs. Unlike diamond drill core that requires extensive handling including logging, photography, splitting, assaying, and warehousing, RC sampling involves minimal processing. This results in faster assay turnaround with accompanying cost reductions. Larger volume RC samples often provide more representative gold samples than split half core samples.
