DTH Button Bits
The DTH bit serves as the primary rock-cutting tool in down-the-hole drilling systems. It withstands severe impact stress from the striking piston while managing high-velocity abrasive cuttings flowing over the bit body.
Selecting the optimal bit requires balancing penetration rate against bit life. In certain applications, sacrificing some bit life for increased penetration may be advantageous.
Rule of thumb: A 10% increase in penetration rate typically compensates for at least a 20% reduction in bit life.
