This Thermal Deformation Test Apparatus is used to measure the thermal deformation rate of the most commonly used insulation and sheath materials (elastomer, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.) of wires and cables at high temperature.
It is made of brass and includes 3 copper rods that move vertically on the support frame. The entire unit is designed to be used in a heating oven. Each rod should be straight with diameter of 0.750 ± 0.010 in Or 19.0 ± 0.2mm. Each copper rod weighs 250g. The lower end of each copper rod is reduced to 0.375 ± 0.010in or 9.5 ± 0.2mm in the last 3 / 4in or 19mm section. The lower end of the reduced section shall be flat and round, without sharp edges, which are both concentric with and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rod. The lower end of the reduced diameter portion acts as a presser foot to hold the specimen during the test. The force on the sample shall be the sum of the weight of the copper rod (250g or 2.45N) plus the weight of the upper end of the copper rod with a weight such that the total pressure is equal to the load force specified by the cable. Each weight shall be engraved accurate weight value.
