Polished Welded Stainless Steel Tubing Bright Annealing Surface For Petroleum And Foodstuff
Product Overview
This polished welded stainless steel tubing is designed for clean fluid transfer lines where corrosion resistance, smooth surface finish, weld integrity, and dimensional consistency are critical. For foodstuff and hygienic service, ASTM A270 is the preferred reference because it covers seamless, welded, and heavily cold-worked welded stainless sanitary tubing with special surface finish requirements for dairy and food applications. For general corrosion-resistant tubing, ASTM A269 may also be specified, while ASTM A312 or EN 10217-7 can be used when pressure piping requirements apply.

Main Characteristics
| Characteristic |
Technical Description |
| Surface roughness control |
Sanitary polished tubing can be supplied with ID Ra ≤0.8 μm; mechanically polished A270 tubing may reach ID Ra ≤0.5 μm when specified. |
| Bright annealed finish |
Hydrogen bright annealing at approximately 1040°C minimum followed by rapid quenching helps restore corrosion resistance and maintain a clean, bright surface. |
| Corrosion resistance |
304 / 304L provides general food and water corrosion resistance; 316 / 316L adds 2.00-3.00% Mo for improved chloride and cleaning-chemical resistance. |
| Welded tube consistency |
Welded tubing provides stable OD, wall thickness, and polished appearance for fluid transfer lines, frames, and hygienic assemblies. |
| Low-carbon grades |
304L and 316L reduce sensitization risk after welding because carbon is limited to 0.035% max under ASTM tubing specifications. |
Our Advantages

Practical Solution |
| "Will the inner surface be clean enough for food or dairy lines?" |
We define surface roughness at quotation stage, such as ID Ra ≤0.8 μm or ID Ra ≤0.5 μm, instead of only saying "polished". Surface inspection and roughness reports can be supplied when required. |
| "Can the welded seam resist leakage and deformation during installation?" |
Tubes can be supplied with eddy-current testing, hydrostatic testing, flattening testing, and visual weld inspection according to the selected standard. ASTM A269 includes mechanical test requirements such as flaring, flange, hardness, and reverse flattening tests. |
| "How do I choose between 304L and 316L?" |
For neutral food fluids and dry indoor systems, 304L is usually cost-effective. For chloride cleaning agents, brine, coastal environments, or aggressive process fluids, 316L is recommended because of its Mo content. |
