PSA Technology Explained
What is PSA Technology? A mature air separation method developed since the 1970s, utilizing Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS) to adsorb oxygen and separate nitrogen from compressed air (78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen).
Three-Step Process
- Adsorption: Compressed air passes through CMS vessel, oxygen is absorbed, nitrogen emerges as product gas.
- Desorption: Upon CMS saturation, process switches to second vessel while first vessel regenerates.
- Regeneration: Produced nitrogen purges through saturated vessel to restore CMS adsorption capacity.
