PSA Nitrogen Generation Technology

The PSA nitrogen generator utilizes carbon molecular sieve (CMS) as an adsorbent, operating on the pressure swing adsorption principle. The system preferentially adsorbs oxygen over nitrogen, enabling efficient gas separation. PLC-controlled pneumatic valves alternate between two adsorption towers to maintain continuous nitrogen production.

The complete system includes an air compressor, refrigerant air dryer, filtration system, main nitrogen generator, and buffer tanks for both air and nitrogen. For higher pressure requirements, an optional oil-free nitrogen compressor can be integrated.

Operation Process

The PSA process utilizes two CMS-filled vessels operating in alternating cycles:

  1. Adsorption: Compressed air passes through CMS, adsorbing oxygen while nitrogen passes through
  2. Desorption: Saturated CMS bed regenerates while the second vessel takes over production
  3. Regeneration: Purge nitrogen from the active vessel regenerates the saturated CMS
