Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology separates gas species from mixtures under pressure based on molecular characteristics and adsorbent material affinity. Operating at near-ambient temperatures, this process differs significantly from cryogenic distillation techniques.

The system uses specific adsorptive materials (zeolites, activated carbon, molecular sieves) that preferentially adsorb target gas species at high pressure, then release them when pressure is reduced. This selective adsorption/desorption cycle enables efficient gas separation.
