The AB 1756-M22 module is a 750 KB non-volatile memory module for AB ControlLogix 5555 controllers. ControlLogix controllers with which the 1756-M22 module is compatible include the 1756-L55, 1756-L55M12, 1756-L55M13, 1756-L55M14, 1756-L55M16, 1756-L55M22, 1756-L55M23, and the 1756-L55M24 controllers. Firmware version 10.x or later is required to be used on the controllers for them to work with the 1756-M22 memory module. If the controllers have an older firmware version, the controller firmware must be upgraded prior to memory module installation. To prevent damage to the memory module, the battery must be disconnected from the controller before installing or replacing the memory module. The installation or replacement of the 1756-M22 module on the ControlLogix 5555 controller requires the following 4 steps: removing the side plate of the controller, removing the existing memory board, installing the new memory board, and replacing the controller side plate. Labels can be placed on the side of the controller to identify the type of memory board that is installed.
The 1756-M22 module is sensitive to ESD. The following precautions need to be followed to prevent damage to the module: touching a grounded object to discharge static, wearing a grounded wrist strap, avoiding touching the connector or module components, using static-safe workstations, and storing the module in static-safe containers. The operating temperature range for the 1756-M22 module is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The storage temperature range for the module is from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The range for the relative humidity is from 5 to 95% (non-condensing). The operating and non-operating shock ratings for the module are 30 G and 50 G, respectively. The enclosure of the module is open and it complies with the T4 North American temperature code and the T4 IEC temperature code.
