The AB 1783-HMS16T4CGN switch is an industrial control switch in the AB Stratix 5400 product line. This switch is a 20-port switch that can communicate with other machines through these 20 ports and through the Ethernet/IP network. Switches in the Stratix 5400 product line can be 2-layer or 3-layer scalable managed switches. Some of the features available on the 1783-HMS16T4CGN Stratix 5400 switch include a variety of alarms, access control lists, the Device Level Ring topology, and the EtherChannels. It can also support GOOSE or Generic Object Oriented Substation Events messaging. It can handle NetFlow. The Stratix 5400 switches like the 1783-HMS16T4CGN switch are some of the only AB switches that can handle the IEEE 1588 Power Profile that defines the values of the PTP networks that are used in the switch’s utility applications.

The AB 1783-HMS16T4CGN Stratix 5400 switch has a console port that allows it to be configured, managed, and monitored through a connected computer. The computer can be connected to the switch with either an RJ45-to-DB-9 cable or with a USB cable. The 1783-HMS16T4CGN switch can be set up quickly and easily with the express setup button. It comes with an SD card that the users need to synchronize with the switch’s internal memory, and they can synchronize the SD card with either the Device Manager application or with the Logix Manager application. This SD card contains the Firmware and the initial configuration software for the switch. The users can protect the 1783-HMS16T4CGN switch by connecting 1 or 2 alarm inputs to it through the front panel.
