The 1794-IM8 is a 240 Volt AC input module by Allen Bradley, working on a rack-based configuration of modules. This unit belongs to the Flex I/O system and consists of three main parts: a terminal unit, an adapter, and an I/O module. It has dedicated wiring labels to make connections to the main terminal and supports a total of 8 inputs, which support an open style enclosure. A 1794-TBN part will function as the main terminal base, being fed by an input current of 2.6 mA.

This module has several options, allowing configuration to transfer instructions to a desktop using RS2000 logic software; Profibus or Ethernet can also be used as communication interfaces. It can be installed as a screw mount or a DIN rail mount; measuring only 94 x 94 x 91 millimeters, it is small enough to be easily transported. Additionally, the 1794-IM8 is approved for operation in hazardous locations, often functioning in temperatures between 0 and 55 degrees Celsius.

This part has 8 key switch positions in total with an additional 2 signal ports for its wiring category. Its maximum voltage upon startup is 10A; the module must receive an appropriate amount of power at all times. Fuses should be installed to avoid damage to the device. The flex bus should be properly inserted as the module may not work until it is fully connected. All the inputs are individually insulated and backplane type tested for individual channels.
